About KLSA

The Kaiserslautern Landstuhl Spouses’ Association (KLSA) is an organization committed to building and supporting the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC) through charitable, educational, and social endeavors. KLSA has helped shape the KMC into the beautiful place it is today. As a group of dedicated members from ALL RANKS and SERVICES we band together to help make a difference and strive to make the KMC the best place to work and live for our military families. Our motto is “Fun, Friends & Philanthropy.

Active Membership is open to the following:

  • Civilians employed by the DoD

  • Deceased military personnel

  • US civilian contract employees

  • Spouses of NATO ID cardholders in the KMC

Community Giving

Giving back to the community is the KLSA’s top priority and also our greatest reward. To achieve our goal and impact as many people as possible within the KMC, the KLSA raises funds through sales at our Landstuhl Thrift Shop.  This enables us to provide community grants to local organizations, scholarships for spouses, university students, and graduating high school seniors with the new KMC Merit Scholarship.  The Bright Eyes Program assists qualifying school age children of active duty soldiers by providing eye glasses and eye exams.

Socials & Happenings

Our monthly socials are open to members and guests. Each month has a different theme — from Oktoberfest to Bingo to Women’s History Month — and presents the perfect opportunity to make new friends and support our community. Signing up only takes a click.

Welcome Letter from the President

Mariefe Cahanding

KLSA President

Welcome to the Kaiserslautern Landstuhl Spouses' Association (KLSA). I am thrilled to have you as part of our KLSA family. As a group of people with a common bond of living overseas away from our “immediate family”, we hope to become part of your “family” as we navigate our time here in Germany. I truly believe that sharing our time, compassion and knowledge creates a better community for everyone. You will find the KLSA motto “Fun, Friends & Philanthropy”, is the foundation of our beliefs.

KLSA is a social and service organization. We aim to provide financial and community support for activities and programs within the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC). The KLSA Thrift Shop located on Landstuhl is our primary source of funding. The proceeds support Community Grants, the Chaplains Holiday Fund, and the (new) KMC Merit Scholarship. Since my involvement in KLSA two years ago,the Community Giving program has provided monetary support to a variety of organizations, schools and activities in the KMC. KLSA is the principal sponsor of the annual Chaplains Holiday Fund and this year will donate over $12,000 in commissary gift cards to soldiers and their family’s to assist in the financial burden during the holiday season. This year we are also excited to branch out and offer our members an opportunity to apply for our KMC Merit Scholarship, to assist with tuition and educational costs.

KLSA has a long history in the KMC, originally as a club only, then opening the thrift shop doors 60 years ago in 1963. We are grateful and thankful we have been able to provide continued support to our overseas family throughout the years. With the help of our amazing members, KLSA has volunteered thousands of hours to support the KMC, the missions and the people.

We hope you have fun, make friends, create memories and enjoy your time here in Germany. Willkommen!
